Movie World is one of the most popular theme parks on Australia's Gold Coast. Opened in June 1991, it is still the country's the only "film" park in the country. Its grounds are home to characters from famous films and Hollywood stars - Batman, Austin Powers, Marilyn Monroe, Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes and others. There are also mini street shows and performers. Interestingly, some of the scenes for real films have been filmed here, like House of Wax, Scooby-Doo, Peter Pan, "Ghost Ship" and "The Condemned".
The construction of the park, which involved Disneyland planners, began in 1989, and was completed just 16 months later, transforming the swampy area into an entertainment complex modelled modelled on Universal Studios Hollywood and Disney's Hollywood Studios. At its opening, instead of a red ribbon, a film was cut, and guests included were Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.
The very first attractions in the park were about how films are made and what happens on the film sets. On opening day, visitors could watch a special effects show, visit the set of a western and the legendary "Police Academy", learn about the adventures of gremlins and the discoveries of young Einstein. In 2008. a 4,000 metre roof over the park in 2008. in all weathers. Today, Movie World regularly organises various public events, such as events such as Halloween and Christmas parties. В 2010, the 4-D attraction Journey to the Centre of the Earth opened in the park.
