Sydney Luna Park is an amusement park located on the north shore of Sydney Harbour at Cape Milsons Point.

The first amusement park was built near the famous Harbour Bridge in 1935 - the rides for it were brought from Luna Park in Glenelg, South Australia. At first, the park was only open for nine months of the year, closing for the winter season. During the World War II, the place was extremely popular with soldiers of the Australian and American armies. In the 1950s, new attractions were brought here from Holland, the USA, Germany and England, and in the 1970s the slogan of the park became the phrase “The place where happiness lives”.

In June 1979, a terrible tragedy occurred in Luna Park - on the attraction "Ghost Train", there was a fire that killed six children and one and one adult. The park was immediately closed. Most of the rides were dismantled, and a new park was built in their place in 1982. The park was closed several more times due to various renovations and restorations. The last park was opened in 2004, when, despite the rain, few thousand people came here, and in the first two months of operation the park was visited by more than 200,000 people!

Today, Sydney Luna Park is one of only two nationally protected amusement parks in the world, and several of its buildings are listed as National Heritage Sites in Australia and the State of New South Wales.
