The Sydney TV Tower is one of the tallest buildings in the world: the tallest in Sydney and the second tallest in Australia and the southern hemisphere. Built in 1975-1981, the tower is 305 metres tall. Inside is the main observation deck of the city, 50 metres higher than the observation deck of the tallest tower in the southern hemisphere. the tallest skyscraper in the southern hemisphere, the Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand. It can be reached by one of three lifts (in 40 seconds!) or by stairs, with 1,504 steps. But after such an ascent, from a height of 260 metres you'll not only have a panoramic view of Sydney, but you'll also be able to see the Blue Mountains on the horizon.

There is also a small souvenir shop and a scoreboard, which information about the tower's status, wind speed and atmospheric pressure. 18 metres above is the open-air glass-bottomed Skywalk platform, which you can visit on a special tour. And underneath the observation deck is a 220-seat restaurant. This is one of the most popular establishments in Sydney - annually it is visited by more than 185 thousand people, a considerable part of which are tourists.

During the Christmas and New Year holidays, the tower is illuminated with colourful lights and sometimes fireworks are set off from the top.
