The Landhaus was formerly the meeting place of the Styrian parliament (Styria also included parts of present-day Slovenia and Italy). It is now the seat of the parliament of the federal state.
In the 16th century, the building was rebuilt under the direction of the Italian architect Domenico del Allio. The façade with loggia and large semicircular windows is in the Venetian style.
In the courtyard, note the magnificent three-storey arched Renaissance gallery. The staircase of the patio is the work of Italian architect Bartolomeo di Bosio.
The interior of the conference room is in the Baroque style, with carved doors and mouldings on the ceiling. The Knights' Hall is equally beautifully decorated.
