The mausoleum was built between 1614 and 1633 by order of Emperor Ferdinand II as a tomb for his family and himself. It's a beautiful example of Austrian Mannerism.
The narrow façade, decorated with numerous sculptures, consists of multiple levels, which creates an exceptionally harmonious composition. The interior of the mausoleum is by von Erlach.
