Only small fragments of the Schlossberg fortress, which once towered over the city, have survived. The fortress has been the residence of emperors since the 15th century. Three times the Turks tried to take the fortress, but all attempts were unsuccessful. Three times the city was captured by Napoleon's troops and in 1809 they blew up the fortress. В 1839 in 1839, a city park was built here.
Next to the castle is the Clock Tower, which rises just above the town's roofs. The clock is very curious: the large hand shows the hours, and the small hand, set later, the minutes. The upper part of the tower is surrounded by a covered wooden gallery.
Schlossberg Mountain offers a beautiful view of the city. You can climb up here on foot or by funicular railway.
