Noel Kempff-Mercado National Park is the pride and heritage of the entire Amazon basin. It is located in the north-eastern part of the country. In terms of area, it is one of the largest in the whole world - 1.5 million hectares. Of course, such a vast territory is represented by several ecosystems. These are wooded savannahs and mountainous, evergreen, Amazonian forests. The richest flora and fauna of the tropics, wooded savannahs, rocky cliffs and waterfalls will not leave anyone indifferent. Scientists believe that the geological age of this area is more than a billion years. There are about 4000 species of plants, 130 species of mammals, 620 species of birds, 70 reptiles and many other animals in the Noel-Kempff-Mercado Park. Many species and populations that are considered rare and endangered are noted.

The park was named in honour of renowned professor Noel Kempff Mercado, who devoted his life to studying wildlife and researching the history of the reserve. In 2000, the national park was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage of Humanity.
