All tourists who come to La Paz make it a point to visit the largest university in Bolivia, the University of San Andrés. Its construction began in 1830. And was completed with the erection of the new Monobloc only in 1947. It is significant that its architect was Emilio Villanueva Peñaranda, who is considered to be the founder of the Neotivanacate style. It was with the university building that the development of La Paz with high-rise buildings began. This is how the Central Bank building, the City Hall, and the first stadium appeared in the city. Tourists love this place, which immortalised the image of the world-famous freedom fighter. In the garden of the university, on the wall there is a portrait of Ernesto Che Guevara. It's over 20 years old. Repeatedly they tried to destroy it, erase it, paint over it. But no one has succeeded. The portrayed hero is reborn each time as a symbol of the unbroken spirit of freedom and the struggle against imperialism.
