Butterfly Gorge is a unique nature reserve located in Yalunwan Bay. To reach the gorge, you have to travel 30 kilometres from Sanya city. This reserve is divided into two equal parts. The first includes a museum, where you can see the richest collection of butterflies and other interesting insects from different countries. The second part, following the museum, is a small island with an artificially created tropical forest, resembling a tiny gorge. This man-made "gorge" is home to butterflies of all species from all over the world. You can meet here both grey and unassuming moths and huge, bird-like mahons. These beautiful creatures flutter around visitors, and their freedom is limited only by a net or awning, stretched overhead, like the sky.
