Golden Bauhinia Square is an open area in Wanchai Province. The attraction was named in honour of the giant statue of a golden flower, a species of orchid called Bauhinia blechiana.

The sculpture, a six-metre-high gilded bauhinia flower, is mounted on a cylindrical red granite base with a pyramidal base. The monument was created in 1997 to commemorate China's acquisition of Hong Kong. The pedestal bears nine glittering Chinese characters inscribed by the head of China's central government, Jiang Zemin.

On the first, eleventh and twenty-first day of each month, a ceremonial flag-raising ceremony is conducted by a uniformed police honour guard. The process is accompanied by a police band playing the national anthem and, after the official part is over, other music for about ten minutes.

Golden Bauhinia Square is one of the most visited places by domestic and foreign tourists. In the evening, the plaza is a great place to see the popular "Symphony of Lights", a light show on the walls of the surrounding skyscrapers. Just below is a 400-metre promenade with a beautiful view of Victoria Harbour.
