Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden is about an hour's drive from the city of Sanya and is located very close to the spring valley of the same name. The garden has become a prime representative of the natural parks that are given special attention in China. They are monitored, studied, and endeavour to keep these places as pristine as possible.
Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden was opened for tourists in 1957. It is home to plants from tropical climates, all of which are of natural origin.
The garden covers an area of 38 hectares. You can simply walk around the garden and get acquainted with different species of tropical flora and fauna, of which there are more than a thousand. In addition to hiking in the garden you can take a boat ride on the magnificent lake, as well as taste local varieties of coffee and tea in a cosy cafe. For convenience, the garden is divided into five parts, each serving a specific purpose.
The Xinlong Tropical Garden is not only an attraction, but also a place for research work. Seminars and scientific conferences are often organised here, as well as scientists gathering and discussing breeding research.
