Yuyuan Garden is rightly considered an amazing place in Shanghai. In Chinese, the name of the garden translates as "joy" or "rest". Indeed, this place is a corner of rest and joy in the midst of a huge modern metropolis with its traffic jams and fast pace of life.
Yuyuan Garden has existed for over 400 years. It was built during the Ming Dynasty in 1559. The founder of the garden was Pan Yunduan, who spent almost all his savings on the construction. But after his death, no one took care of the garden, and it quickly fell into disrepair. Finally, in 1956, the local city government decided to restore the garden, and they managed to bring the place almost to its original appearance.
Yuyuan strikes you with the number of architectural structures: pavilions, bridges, arches, terraces. And among them there are no identical ones. The area of the park, which is just over 2 hectares of land, is divided into 6 parts. All parts are connected with each other by passages and galleries, which are made not randomly, but according to all the rules of feng shui for the correct direction of the movement of energy chi.
Tourists can visit the ancient tea house Huxinting. It is crossed by a stone bridge with 10 sharp turns, which are designed to prevent evil spirits from entering the building. Also in the garden is a huge stone dragon with a toad near its mouth.
Next to the garden there is a large shopping quarter, where you can buy anything you want. The main thing is not to get lost.
