The Rovinj City Museum is located on the grounds of a magnificent Baroque palace, which was the residence of the Kaliffi family for two centuries. The distinguished members of this wealthy and very influential family settled in the Croatian town of Rovinj between the 17th and 18th centuries.

The architecture of the Baroque palace perfectly demonstrates the harmonious, unified style of the Venetian Republic period. The building is adorned with a Venetian loggia. At the end of the Second World War, this princely residence was transformed into a museum-gallery. This transformation was initiated by local artists.

Today, the main museum in Rovinj offers a collection of paintings by famous international artists. The collection includes more than 1500 works of art. Works by protagonists of the contemporary art sphere are also exhibited here. In addition to many paintings, in the halls of this museum-gallery you will see a huge number of different sculptures, folk costumes and models of ships.

Here visitors will also see expositions consisting of objects from the times of Roman emperors and the Middle Ages. Other collections on display in the city museum include paintings and sculpture from the 15th to 19th centuries.
