The Rupe Museum is located in a unique structure, the Rupe Granary, built at the end of the 16th century in the old part of Dubrovnik. There are 15 large dry wells hollowed out in the solid rock and covered with special waterproof plaster. They used to store grain. The total capacity of the ancient "elevator" is about 1,200 tonnes. Today the collection of the ethnographic museum - traditional folk costumes and household items - is exhibited here. The ground floor houses a permanent exhibition of Croatian folk art.
