The Palace of Fine Arts is otherwise known in Cuba as the National Museum of Art. It's the country's main centre for art and painting in the country. Its holdings are rich and amazing, making the museum complex one of the most important in the world. There are more than 47,000 of exhibits. The museum is located in the historical centre of Havana on Trocadero Street. Surrounded by old majestic palaces, the modern building, built in the late 20th century, blends in well with the architecture of the street.
The building has a floor area is more than 8,000 square metres, with 1,200 exhibits on display. Among them you will see paintings, prints and drawings by famous local masters, as well as sculptures. The paintings of more than 300 artists are exhibited in the spacious halls of the museum. All the works of art are strictly divided into four blocks, which allows you to to trace the development and growth of Cuban culture. They are Colonial Art, Turn of the Century, Modern, Contemporary Art.
Not far from the Palace of Fine Arts. near the Palace of Fine Arts is the Asturias Centre, where you can discover the works of great masters from other countries, including Dutch, Flemish, German, French, American, Italian, English, as well as from Latin America and Asia. There is a unique collection of exhibits Ancient World, Greece, Egypt, Rome, and the most complete collection of paintings by Spanish artists.
