Colossi Castle was built in the 13th century, but in the 15th century, namely in 1454-1455, some time after the Knights Templar settled there, it was almost completely rebuilt. Then this fortress was a whole complex of fortified buildings, almost every one of which in a fairly good condition has survived to this day.

On its territory, surrounded by a protective moat, you can get to the traditional for such buildings lift bridge. You can still see and visit one of the key elements of the castle - a three-storey tower, which rises 25 metres above the surroundings. And on the facade of the castle you can still see the family coats of arms belonging to the Lusignan dynasty, as well as the coat of arms of Jerusalem, which was owned by this family for some time. In addition, one of the main attractions of Kolossi is the sugar factory, which at one time was one of the best on the island, but at the moment, unfortunately, from it remained almost only ruins. It was there that the Templars established the production of the famous wine "Kommandaria", which is considered one of the most elite wines in the world.

Kolossi Castle, despite its relatively small size, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Limassol. This place is a must visit for those who want to feel the charming atmosphere of antiquity, as well as enjoy the beautiful views of the old part of the city.
