The National Museum of Ethiopia is located in the centre of Addis Ababa and comprises four sections. The archaeological and paleoanthropological sections of the museum house their collections on the ground floor of the building. Here you can see artefacts from archaeological excavations and remains of early hominids, including the world-famous Lucy, a member of Australopithecus afarensis, who lived over three million years ago. The floor above offers a display of objects from ancient and medieval history, including the personal effects and regalia of Ethiopia's emperors. The upper floors house collections of paintings and arts and crafts, as well as weapons and musical instruments.
