The Aine Art Museum was opened in 1986 with the support of the Art Foundation and the City of Tornio. The core of the collection is Finnish art from the early 19th century to the present day, which was collected by the Aine couple over several decades.

Among the more than 2,300 exhibits, works by authors from Northern Finland are particularly well represented. Part of the basis of the collection is the work of the artist Liis Rautiainen, who was born in 1919 in Kemi. She donated 217 of her works to the Aine Museum.

Among other things, the museum holds annual temporary exhibitions of fine and industrial art, as well as photography exhibitions.

From the windows of the museum, visitors can enjoy a beautiful view of the city and the bay.
