The Aviation Museum of Central Finland was opened by 1976, and since 1987 it has been officially named the Finnish Air Force Museum. Its exposition tells the history of Finnish aviation from the very beginning to the present day.

The core of the exhibition consists of 400 model aeroplanes, including: "Fokker D.XXI", Messerschmidt BEF 109 G-6, Bristol Benheim Mk. IV bomber and the world's only Brewster fighter. Moreover, aircraft engines, equipment and uniforms of the Finnish Air Force can be seen here.

For tourists, the museum has a cafe and a shop selling aviation books and magazines, as well as prefabricated model aeroplanes.
