The Werstas Workers' Museum was founded in 1993 in the historic buildings of the Finlayson cotton mill. It is located in the centre of Tampere and has an exhibition area of about 2000 sq m and a total of 5000 sq m, making it the second largest museum in Tampere.
The Verstas Museum hosts permanent and temporary exhibitions on national social history and working life. Within the working museum there is a Steam Engine Museum and a Textile Industry Museum, as well as a regional tour centre. This makes Verstas a versatile and multi-faceted facility for family holidays.
Within the exhibition of the Museum of the Textile Industry, visitors will be introduced to different types of yarn and fabric, and can explore the phases of production: from fibre to fabric.
Since 2011, entrance to the museum has been made free. "Werstas" is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday.
