The Imatra Art Museum was opened in 1951 and is one of the first of its kind: the museum is located in the countryside in the building of the Cultural Centre.
The museum has more than 1400 works of art, some of which belong to the city and some to the Imatra Art Society. The main focus of the collection is the work of Finnish artists of the twentieth century. In addition, there are works by foreign artists of the 19th century and prints by Japanese artists of the 17th century.
Every year the museum organises various temporary exhibitions, which are visited by many tourists from all corners of the world.
In summer the museum is open to the public from Monday to Friday, and in autumn, winter and spring from Monday to Saturday. Admission is free.
