Lapland Forest Museum is located in the open air among forested mountains on the shores of Lake Sallijärvi. It belongs to the Lapland Forest Museum Association.

The Forest Museum displays forestry traditions, telling the history of logging and timber rafting in Lapland.

There are numerous buildings, artefacts, and photographs illustrating the colourful yet gruelling life and work of Lapland's logging workers in the first half of the 20th century. In the 1960s and 70s the forest industry became more mechanised and work became easier.

The museum is open during the summer, Tuesday to Sunday. At other times, guided tours are only available by prior reservation.
