The Lutheran Church of Rovaniemi was built in 1950 by architect Bertel Lijekvist. The previous church building was destroyed during the war, in 1944. A stone now stands in its place, to the left of the entrance to the new church.
In the churchyard there is a memorial to Finnish soldiers who died during the Second World War. And opposite is a memorial to the Finnish independence fighters who fell in 1918.
The interior of the church is decorated with a fourteen metre high altarpiece fresco "Source of Life" painted by Lennart Segerstrohl. The church can accommodate up to 1000 parishioners at a time. In 1987 an organ with 4000 pipes, 45 registers, three manuals and a pedal was purchased and consecrated in a factory in Denmark. On the roof of the church there is a spire with a cross, whose total height reaches 54 metres.
The Lutheran church is open daily in summer and during the Christmas holidays. Other times - by arrangement.
