The Maretharium is a unique aquarium of enormous size, where more than 50 species of fish and molluscs live in a natural environment, presenting visitors with the underwater life of the Baltic Sea and Finnish water bodies in accordance with the seasons.
The Maretharium consists of 22 special aquariums, the largest of which - the Baltic Sea - reaches 7m in depth. In the marine theatre there is a daily an amazing dive by a scuba diver to feed the fish. In winter, eelpouts give birth to offspring in the aquarium, and in summer, smelts give birth.
The Hailey Nature School offers educational classes for schoolchildren with guided nature walks.
The newly opened terrariums are home to lizards, snakes, frogs and aquatic insects collected by the famous Finnish biologist Ilkka Kajvisto.
