The Sondakylä Museum of Local History began its activities of collecting and preserving traditions in 1949. It introduces visitors to life in the village in the early twentieth century and gives a clear picture of the local trading culture that existed in the region at that time.
The museum consists of 13 buildings. The main building consists of three rooms. The living room is decorated according to local agricultural traditions: black loon skin bags hanging on the wall were used to store small tools and talismans.
Other buildings, such as the Erkkila barn, which is over 100 years old, are also classified as historic structures. In the past it was used for storing meat and fish and as a sleeping place. The holes in its wall are bullet marks from target shooting.
