The Naisvuori observation tower is located almost in the centre of the city and is the highest point in Mikkeli. The hill on which it is located is nicknamed "women's mountain" by the locals. This is due to the fact that during the Russo-Finnish war women were able to watch the ongoing battles from the hill.
"Naisvuori" is made of white stone in the style of the 1930s. A lift leads to the top, where a viewing platform is located. With binoculars and optical telescopes you can take in the sights of the city from a bird's eye view.
In summer, you can enjoy a cup of coffee in the café-restaurant while admiring the surrounding countryside below, or savour traditional Finnish cuisine. Every year, in early June, a children's festival is held on the hill. There are songs, children dancing, puppet theatre performers, etc.
