The J.L. Runeberg House Museum is located in a part of the city that is decorated in the Empire style, and the low wooden houses form squares, according to the classical plan of the city. This is where the greatest Finnish-Swedish poet Johan Ludvig Runeberg. The neighbouring building displays a collection of sculptures by the poet's son, the famous sculptor Walter Runeberg.
