The church of the rural parish in Mikkeli - is a large wooden building located in the western part of the town. It is the third third largest church in Finland, with a capacity of up to 2,000 people, was built in 1816-17, designed by architect Carl Bassi in accordance with the religious traditions of Finland. Following the canons of the Lutheran church, the style of the building is reminiscent of the intersection of a cross and a square.
On the eastern wall of the church there is an altar with a depiction of the crucifixion of Christ, which is a copy of a painting in the Louvre by the artist Pierre Pudhony.
Restorers have managed to keep the church in pristine condition - church facade from 1873, as well as the ancient bells cast in 1752.
Entrance to the village church is free, however, its doors are only open to tourists in summer.
