The Château de Cheverny was built by Jacques Hureau - the intendant of King Louis XII - in 1490. in 1490 on the site of an old mill. His descendant Henri Hurault demolished the old buildings, linking him to the unpleasant memories of his first wife's infidelity. and began construction of a new building.

Cheverny is the first seventeenth-century mansion in what was later called the as classical. The material used was local white sandstone. The façade of the castle has never been restored restored since 1634.

In the Armoury Hall - the largest in the castle, displays a collection of armour and weapons. In the Tapestry in the Tapestry Hall, you can see masterpieces made from the drawings of David Teniers. Hunting at Cheverny takes place in winter, twice a week. The kennels are another another attraction of the castle. More than 70 dogs are kept here.
