My Application

Frauenkirche - the Church of the Virgin Mary - is a majestic church, one of the most of the city's most important cathedrals. It was built in the Baroque style at the behest of the Saxon Elector and King of Poland, Augustus Silicus. Saxon Elector and King of Poland Augustus the Strong in 1726-1743. The church's huge dome collapsed during the Allied bombing of Dresden during World War II, and the GDR authorities decided not to rebuild the church as a reminder of what happened. The reconstruction of the cathedral according to historical blueprints only began after German reunification. The grand opening of the Frauenkirche took place in 2005.

Opposite the church stands a monument to Martin Luther, created in 1885 by Ernst Ritschel.
