The Old Town Hall was built in the 15th century, but was partially destroyed and replaced by a 19th century Italian Romanticism building. However, as a result of restoration work, the building was restored to its historic appearance. Of particular value of particular value are the building's pediment, decorated with Gothic violets, and the moulded frieze, which features portraits. frieze with portraits of princes and family coats of arms, as well as paintings of medieval folk games. 

Hannover is dominated by the imposing baroque New Town Hall building, built between 1901 and 1913. The building was erected on the banks of an artificial lake and rests on 3,026 beech piles. Numerous bas-reliefs adorning the numerous bas-reliefs decorating the town hall depict scenes from the history of the town. In the Assembly Hall there is a huge painting by Ferdinand Ferdinand. Ferdinand Hodler's huge painting "Unity", depicting the city's adoption of Protestantism in 1533. A unique inclined lift takes tourists up into the dome Town Hall to the observation deck, which offers a magnificent view of the city.
