The Red Town Hall building was designed by G.F. Wesemann and built in 1869. Its walls are made of red brick, which is the reason why it got its name. The long mural located on the building is called "History in Stone" and tells about the history of the city and the development of its economy and science.
The Red Town Hall was badly damaged during World War II and was reconstructed in the 1950s. It is now home to Berlin's city hall and government.
