St Mary's Church was founded in the 13th century as a parish church. It was reconstructed in 1380, but it was not fully formed until the 15th century. The early Gothic interior of the church with numerous decorations makes it one of the most remarkable in the city.
The church pulpit by Andreas Schlüter (170) is decorated with figures of John the Baptist and allegories of virtues. The Baroque main altar was designed by Andreas Krüger in 1762. The 15th-century font is in the Gothic style.
