St Peter's Cathedral was erected in the 11th century. It was subsequently rebuilt several times. The two symmetrical 98-metre high towers were restored at the end of the 19th century. From their height you can enjoy a magnificent view of the whole city. The building was badly damaged during World War II, but it has now been fully restored.

The cathedral was initially Catholic and later Lutheran, which led to a mix of styles in its interior decoration. The interior is decorated with sandstone bas-reliefs. On the seats in the choir one can see scenes of the Passion of the Lord and the battle of Judas Maccabaeus. Of particular interest is the carved baroque pulpit from 1638, made with donations from Queen Christina of Sweden.

The western and eastern crypts are the oldest parts of the temple. Here you can see an ancient sculpture of Christ from 1050 and a 12th century Romanesque font with 38 bas-reliefs.
