The Dead Sea is a unique natural monument and a natural healing centre. This salt lake, the surface of which lies 400 metres below the level of the world ocean, is considered to be the saltiest body of water on the planet. The water contains a large number of components ranging from bromine and chlorine to rare metals. Due to such high salinity (the salt content here is 10 times higher than in the saltiest of the world's seas), the water is very "dense" and resembles a thick brine. And it is the salts that provide world-famous therapeutic properties of local water and mud.

Bathing in dense, oily to the touch water leaves unforgettable sensations and relieves many diseases. Dry, clean, with a high concentration of bromine and almost dust-free air at a pressure of about 800 mm. Hg, is another factor of treatment. The sunlight is filtered by an additional layer of air (400 metres "above normal") and the vapour from the water surface acts as a polarising filter. Thanks to this, the ultraviolet radiation from the sun is greatly weakened, which creates ideal conditions for heliotherapy.

The hotels, which operate modern treatment and rehabilitation centres, are located in the north of the Dead Sea, just a few kilometres from the mouth of the Jordan River, which flows into it. And 300 metres from the place where Lot and his daughters are believed to have taken refuge after the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the Dead Sea Museum is open.
