Jomas Street in Jurmala is located in the town of Majori. Translated from Latvian, it probably means "sand waves". If you ever been to the beach in Jurmala, you will look at the coastal sand, after the sea has receded, you'll see that it lies in lines, resembling waves.

It was not until the end of the 19th century that Jomas Street in Maiori became the busiest and noisiest street in Jurmala. It was in this place that a pharmacy, a market, and the first shop. In 1870, at the corner of Jomas and Omnibus streets, Horn created the first hotel in Majori and laid out a garden. It was the most important cultural centre of the Riga seaside.

And not far from Jomas Street near Jomas Street there is a monument to Rainis and Aspasia and a very interesting museum of antique cars.
A historical building located on Jomas-35 is Jurmala People's House. It used to be the Jurmala cinema. The Horne Hotel and Concert Hall was built on this site in 1870. Symphony orchestras from Prague, Berlin and Warsaw performed here. And in 1896, the first cinema in Jurmala was created in the hotel.
