The Seaside Park (Primorsky Park) in Liepaja is the largest park in Latvia. It is called "Jurmalas park". This wonderful natural park stretches along the Baltic Sea coast for 3 kilometres. Its area is 70 hectares. Seaside Park for the residents of Liepaja is a source of special pride, because it is very beautiful, cosy, here you can take long walks on foot and enjoy the fresh air and the opportunity to see many interesting things.

On the territory of the Seaside Park, a huge number of paths and excursion paths are created. Walking along them, you can see a variety of plant species. For example, palm trees and cypresses. According to the results of the latest inventory there are 33 species of native plants and shrubs and 140 species of introduced (deliberately relocated) trees, 5 of which are rare species that are subject to protection.

The Seaside Park in Liepaja was created at the very beginning of the 20th century, in 1902 to be exact. Naturally, today's appearance of the park is quite different from that of a century ago. Wars, bad weather and storms have left their mark. Since those long ago, almost everything has changed here, but the main thing is that the park itself exists and receives a large number of visitors every day.

Interestingly, the beginning of the existence of the park, was associated with the creation of a bathing centre. Here in 1902 visited the Russian tsar and his family. In a very short period of time on the territory of the park the number of baths has increased dramatically, and here began to come not only residents of the city of Liepaja, but also foreign guests. As we can see, for some time the Seaside Park fulfilled the function of almost a resort place. Later, the city of Liepaja itself became a resort, and the park, thus, managed to remain a park, in the familiar sense.

At the entrance to the park are the largest drums in the country. They are the symbol of the city of Liepaja, which is considered to be the musical capital of Latvia. This status is also confirmed by the concert ground "Put, vejini!" (which means "Hey, breeze") created in 1964. It is a favourite venue for various concerts and festivals. One of the oldest rock festivals in the USSR, which is still held today, is the famous "Liepaja Amber", which has existed since 1968.

On the territory of the Seaside Park, a collection of sea fishing boats and the largest collection of anchors in the Baltic States is organised, with about 100 items from the 17th century to the present day. The most massive anchors in the park make up the Anchor Trail.

You can also ride a velocipede in the park. This structure resembles a bicycle, but you have to ride on rails. You can ride on the velocipede in pairs.

In addition, a large playground for children, a stadium, areas for skateboarding, tennis and mini-golf, a beautiful fountain and many summer cafes are built on the territory of the Seaside Park . And the road through the park will take you to the beach.

The Seaside Park in Liepaja is an amazing place. It will not leave everyone indifferent and will allow you to enjoy the beauty of the surrounding nature, as well as to get a charge of positive emotions and a wonderful mood!
