Jaunmoki Palace is located in the Tukums district of Latvia, 75 kilometres from Riga and about 30 kilometres from the town of Tukums. The palace was built in 1901, the project architect was Wilhelm Bockslaff. Jaunmokas Castle was originally built as a hunting lodge for the mayor of the city, George Armitstead, who owned the palace until 1904.

Over the next few years, Jaunmokas Castle was owned by different families. From 1920 the castle became the property of the state. After the division JaunmokaIn the castle itself there is a children's holiday home "Tsirulyshi".

During the Second World War the castle was used for the needs of both Russian and German troops. Improvement works on the castle are still being carried out today. Their aim is to to promote and establish Jaunmoki Palace as one of the important tourist and cultural centres of the country.

Jaunmokas Castle is associated with a legend based on real events, dating back to the early 20th century. The legend tells of a young girl, Dorita, who worked at the castle as a nanny during World War II. During that period the palace was occupied by the Germans. Dorité fell in love with an officer who soon left, leaving her pregnant. The girl was unable to survive the separation and overcome her shame, and she drowned herself in the pond of the castle.

Since then, the people living in the castle have repeatedly seen the ghost of a young girl in the in the attic, dressed in white. According to legend it is supposed that her spirit tai and could not could not rest. One day, two scientists from Germany visited the castle and examined the palace using special instruments for the presence of different energies. Now these scientists realised that the strongest energy comes from the attic. It's even believed that they even talked to a ghost, and as a result, they realised that it was a a good ghost. The castle now houses a forest museum, which can be visited either individually, or with a group. There are various exhibitions where you will learn about about the animals that inhabit Latvia's forests, as well as about tree species and the history of forestry. In the front entrance hall of Jaunmoka Castle you can see a unique tiled stove, which has 50 of the most diverse cooker, on which there are 50 different views of Riga and Jurmala.
