Located in the southern part of the country, Sossusflei is known for its monumental dunes, the highest of which is 325 metres high. These star-shaped dunes inspire artists and photographers from all over the world. This bizarre shape is given to the dunes by strong winds blowing from different directions. The colours of the Sossusflei dunes vary from apricot and orange to red and maroon, contrasting dazzlingly with the white salt marsh hollows at the base of the dunes.
