The Bergenhus Fortress was founded in the Middle Ages, but only fragments of the foundations remain of the original buildings, all of which collapsed in a ship explosion. only fragments of the foundations remain - all collapsed when a ship exploded in Bergen harbour in 1944. 

After the war, two structures on the territory of the fortress were recreated - the Rosencrantz Tower. Rosenkrantz Tower, named after its architect, and the palace of King Hakon Hakonson, built in the 13th century in the English Gothic style.
