Europe's largest glacier, Justedalsbreen, is a vast plateau with numerous ice tongues. plateau, from which numerous ice tongues branch off. The national park was established here on 25 October 1991. It is located on the territory of several municipalities and covers an area of 1,230 square kilometres. The well known glaciers are. Nigardsbreen, Bergsetbreen, Tuftebreen, Fabergstolsbreen and Autsdalsbreen originate from this huge mass of ice and stretch towards the valley Joosterdallen.

The glacier covers an area of 475 kilometres and its 26 branches descend to the foot of the mountains. the foothills of the mountains. The contrast between the fertile valleys and the glaciers descending to almost every sea is striking, to say the least. It's worth noting that walking on the glacier is difficult and even dangerous. There are several primitive shelters, and there are also a few marked paths.
