The Viking Museum Lofotr is a historical museum located in the village of Borg, which was a Viking settlement in ancient times. As a result of archaeological excavations have recreated the 83-metre-high dwelling of their leader Ottar, about 9 metres high. It is the longest horizontal structure with outer walls made of pebble and turf exterior walls, fireplaces, rooms with dimly flickering lamps to immerse you in the the harsh atmosphere of the era.

In order to attract tourists, from 15 June to 1 August there are organised traditional lamb and boar dinners. Drinks served in bowls include mead infused with herbs. Visitors are served by guides in national costumes. Group excursions are organised by prior order.

Vikings became famous not only as invaders and destroyers, but also as travellers and merchants. Chief Ottar brought back precious metals, luxury goods, wine, wheat in exchange for the furs of martens, foxes, polar bears, as well as sharpening stones and hardware. The Vikings travelled on trading expeditions on their ships. One of these ships - "Lofotr" has been reconstructed and is on display for tourists visiting Borg.
