Mack Brewery in Tromsø is the northernmost brewery in the world. Ludwig Mack founded his family business in the autumn of 1877. Like his father, he was trained as a baker and pastry chef. At the age of 35, Ludwig founded a brewery, which cost him a hefty 72,000 kroner, which was a very ambitious project. However, Ludwig was sure of success and was not mistaken: the brewery soon became the largest industrial enterprise in the city.

For the first few years, the brewery did not even have its own retail outlet, the products were distributed through middlemen. Ludwig managed to to open a Mac shop in the 1890s. After a while, the Mac name became known almost nationwide.

On 9 April 1939, most of the factory was destroyed by fire, which led to a a decline in production. After a short time, the buildings were rebuilt, underwent a comprehensive modernisation and reconstruction, and as a result beer production increased again.

The brewery's product range represents a great variety and is is constantly expanding. Today, the Mack brewery produces a total of 16 beers and 13 varieties of soft drinks and mineral water. In 2002, the brewery celebrated its 125th anniversary. Many things have changed over the years, but the quality remains at a high level.

During the excursion, visitors will get acquainted with the process of making drinks according to ancient traditional recipes, see special equipment and, of course, will be able to taste some of the most famous beers in the world.
