The Helleristning rock paintings in Narvik are about 5000 years old. They are located within city limits - in the bedroom district of Brenholt - just 700m from the city centre. You can find the walking route to them by following the signs or the tourist map. If you try to find a large boulder lying directly on the ground, you will see images of animals and people carved on it.
To learn more about the history of rock art in Norway tourists are advised to visit the permanent exhibition of rock art, held at the Nordic Museum in Narvik.
