The World War II Memorial Museum has a rich exhibit dedicated to the this major event in modern history. Most of the exhibits tells the story of the battles of 1940 and the German occupation of the region from 1940-45. The museum exhibits tell the story of the struggles on sea, land and air of the countries involved - England, France, Poland, Germany and Norway.
In the museum you will see photographs, weapons, uniforms and other military items, including a German Navy cipher machine. Most exhibits are in Norwegian, but the Memorial Museum also has descriptions in English.
In a 2-3 hour visit to the museum you will follow the fate of Narvik during the war: from the first days of occupation to the liberation and the return of Norwegian sovereignty to the city in 1945.
