The Church of San Nicolas de Tolentino, built in the first half of the 19th century of burnt brick, is considered to be one of the most beautiful churches in the Philippines. It is also known as the Church of Cabatuan Church because it is located in this small town in the province of Iloilo. It is also a huge neoclassical structure that is the only church with three facades. Its twin bell towers, topped with cream-coloured with cream-coloured domes, are also famous throughout the country.

The construction of the church was carried out under the direction of the parish priest of Cabatuan, Father Ramon Alquezar. Due to the lack of building materials, he decided to build the church with red burnt bricks, which is how the town's brick-making industry to create a brick factory in the city. The intricate ornaments on the interior of the church were designed were designed by Father Manuel Guttierez. The church was finally completed in 1866, after which it began to hold services.

During Spanish colonisation, the church of San Nicolás de Tolentino was called "model church" because it was the finest example of European European architecture in the Philippine archipelago. In 1948, the church was partially partially destroyed by an earthquake - the four bell towers, two gables and the central dome.
