The Goldenberg Mansion, built in the 19th century for the family. Eugster family, served as the headquarters of the Spanish Navy from 1897 to 1898. of the Spanish Navy. When the Americans arrived in the Philippines, the house became the residence of military governor Arthur MacArthur, father of the famed General Douglas MacArthur. It was also the site of the historic 1916 session of the Philippine Senate.

Later, the mansion was bought by cosmetics manufacturer Michael Goldenberg, by whose name the house is known to this day. And in 1966, during the administration of President Marcos, the house was purchased by the Philippine government. Its restoration was carried out by Leandro Locsin, the favorite architect of First Lady Imelda Marcos, who decorated the house with antique furniture, ceramics and books from around the world. To this day, the Goldenberg Mansion is still used to host official government ceremonies. Unfortunately, public access to the house is restricted, and and few people can see artefacts like Chinese furniture, made of jade, European candelabras, rare Philippine books and even prehistoric works of Thai pottery.
