The four-storey neoclassical style La Salle Hall building was built between 1920 and 1924 in Manila's Malate district. Then it housed the main building of De La Salle College (now the university of the same name), since the old building no longer had enough space for students. Originally La Salle Hall had only three floors, the fourth floor was added in the 1990s to house the Christian community of the Brothers De La Salle. Today, the first floor of the building houses the College of Business, and the second floor houses the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament and the office of the De La Salle University Alumni Association. In 2007, La Salle Hall became the only Philippine building included in the book 1001 Buildings You Must See Before You Die: Masterpieces of World Architecture.

During World War II in the Battle of Manila, the building was nearly destroyed, sheltering the city's civilian population. The building was under artillery fire for a week. The Japanese troops, after occupying the building, turned it into their headquarters. 16 members of the Christian order De La Salle Brothers and 25 civilians were killed by the invaders in the chapel in February 1945. It took two years and cost $5,000 to rebuild the building after the war. In December 1947, the chapel was consecrated by Archbishop O'Doherty in honour of Holy Communion.
