San Pedro Cathedral is the oldest church in Davao City, dedicated to the city's patron saint, the Apostle Peter, and is located right in front of the City Hall. The church was built in 1847 during the Spanish colonisation of what is now Davao by Don Jose Oyanguren. Today, it is is considered one of the most beautiful churches built during that period. In this church was prayed in by Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II.

The most striking detail of the church, admired by all who see it, is the perfectly well-preserved original carved ornamentation depicting various saints. In the right wing of the cathedral chapel, an ancient altar and statues of saints have been preserved. Inside one can also see beautiful images of the Apostle Peter, or San Pedro. And in the the marvellous bell tower contains an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Ten Commandments, as well as a statue of the Virgin Mary with the body of Christ on her lap. The renovated part of the cathedral no less impressive is the renovated part of the cathedral, in the architecture of which one can, oddly enough, Muslim features in its architecture. Around it there are several shops selling various religious items - candles, rosaries, rosaries, prayer books, novenas and monastic scapulars.

San Pedro Cathedral is one of the few churches in the Philippines that is protected by the Philippines as a national cultural treasure. Interestingly, the recognition is not for the historical value of the church, but rather for its unique geographical It is one of the few Christian churches built in a traditionally Muslim region. On Sundays, the Cathedral of San Pedro hundreds or even thousands of worshippers flock to San Pedro Cathedral for mass, so parts of San Pedro Street and Recto Avenue in front of the cathedral are usually blocked off.
