The town hall tower, 70 metres high, stands alone on the north-eastern part of the square - it is all that remains of the ancient town hall, which was dismantled at the beginning of the 19th century. At the beginning of the 17th century, the tower was struck by lightning and the resulting fire damaged it and threatened to fall. To avoid this, it was reinforced on the west side, but the deviation from the vertical is still 55 cm. At the same time, the Gothic spire was replaced by a Baroque helmet.
